About the Role

As a software sustainment engineer, you play a pivotal role in an application’s functional life. From troubleshooting to fixing bugs, you use your operations and maintenance skills to ensure that things run smoothly. You’ll have an operational impact from day one, maintaining applications and keeping systems working with a team of professionals. You and your team will use programming and scripting languages to continuously enhance and maintain applications, troubleshoot operational issues, and upgrade systems to meet security requirements. Most importantly, you’ll advise clients on the best ways to improve and modernize existing legacy enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and sustain legacy enterprise applications
  • Troubleshoot and fix bugs in operational systems
  • Use programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, C) to enhance and maintain applications
  • Upgrade systems to meet security requirements
  • Advise clients on improving and modernizing existing systems
  • Collaborate with a team to ensure smooth operations

Requirements

  • Experience with programming in Python and C
  • Experience in web development using HTML and JavaScript
  • Experience using React frameworks
  • Experience using Docker
  • Ability to apply critical and analytic thinking to improve and troubleshoot code
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience designing, modifying, developing, writing, and implementing software programming applications using Agile methods, or 12+ years of such experience in lieu of a degree

Nice to Have

  • Experience applying cloud computing in AWS to develop and deploy more efficient, secure, and cost-effective software
  • Experience with object-oriented design (OOD) to develop flexible and maintainable programs
  • Experience with database design, SQL, and relational databases
  • Knowledge of database design principles
  • Knowledge of web standards, protocols, frameworks, and full-stack development

Full-time and part-time employees working at least 20 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in Booz Allen’s benefit programs. Individuals that do not meet the threshold are only eligible for select offerings, not inclusive of health benefits.

Pay

Salary is determined by various factors, including location, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, and contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD).

Schedule

This role may be remote, hybrid, or onsite:

  • Remote: Primarily virtual, with occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility.
  • Hybrid: Frequent work from a Booz Allen facility, with potential visits to customer facilities as needed.
  • Onsite: Work primarily performed at a Booz Allen office or customer facility, with direct collaboration required.

Employees working virtually are generally expected to have their cameras on during meetings to support engagement and effective communication.
