About The Role

Aquila Technology is seeking a highly skilled Software Developer to join our dynamic team supporting one of the nation's premier defense research organizations. This role requires expertise in software development combined with advanced knowledge of AI algorithms and technology. The successful candidate will focus on creating novel AI techniques for discriminative and generative tasks, contributing to research that explores the security implications of cyber-physical phenomena. The work involves developing prototypes and systems that integrate AI components capable of real-time or near-real-time processing, often leveraging heterogeneous hardware platforms for optimized performance. The ideal candidate will have experience in integrating AI models into complex systems, managing data pipelines with strict latency requirements, and applying innovative solutions such as model distillation and edge AI processing. This position involves working at the forefront of cybersecurity, cyber-physical sensing, and RF communications, often conducting research and development activities that support national security efforts. The role demands a proactive problem-solver with a strong background in full-stack development, AI frameworks, and hardware-software integration, capable of troubleshooting complex AI-related issues and deploying scalable applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software and algorithm development
  • At least 3 years of experience in machine learning and AI development
  • Proficiency with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn
  • Deep learning expertise with at least 3 years of hands-on experience
  • Experience deploying and maintaining application infrastructure, including generative AI technologies
  • Strong background in ML algorithm design, supervised and unsupervised learning
  • Proficiency in PyTorch and C/C++ programming languages
  • Experience with version control systems such as GIT/GITHUB
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented software design, software architecture, and development
  • Knowledge of XML, SQL, and build tools like Maven or Gradle
  • Experience in hardware and software integration
  • Must possess an active Secret Clearance and be a US citizen

Responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate AI software components into prototypes and complex systems with real-time processing requirements
  • Design, implement, and optimize AI models, including generative and discriminative algorithms
  • Leverage heterogeneous hardware platforms to accelerate AI computations and manage data pipeline latencies
  • Conduct research to develop novel AI techniques for cyber-physical security applications
  • Support the development of cyber-physical sensing technologies, digital processing, and side-channel analysis
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to build advanced sensors, RF communication systems, and digital tools
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to AI model deployment, performance, and integration
  • Maintain and enhance application infrastructure, ensuring scalability and robustness
  • Document development processes, technical specifications, and research findings
  • Stay current with emerging AI trends and incorporate best practices into project workflows
