Location: Eglin AFB, FL | Status: Full-time | Clearance: Secret (must obtain interim within 3 weeks of start)

About the role

Our Datalinks Test Flight (DTF) team is searching for a Software Developer to help establish and maintain the infrastructure that supports multiple test programs. You will join the software engineering team responsible for development, implementation, maintenance, and sustainment of tactical datalinks applications vital to datalinks testing within the DTF’s Datalinks Test Lab.

Responsibilities

  • Provide software engineering support for DoD Developmental Test & Evaluation events.
  • Collaborate with the software development team and system stakeholders to develop software following Agile programming and Software Development Lifecycle principles.
  • Develop and maintain Windows-based software in multiple object-oriented programming languages.
  • Develop and maintain XSD Schema format files.
  • Provide software support to end users.
  • Develop software technical and user documentation.
  • Support test execution related to software developed and data collected.
  • Develop solutions to complex problems requiring regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
  • Attend meetings to provide briefings, information, and recommendations.
  • Perform other related duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 0–3 years of relevant experience (additional experience may substitute for education).
  • Able to obtain an interim DoD Secret clearance prior to employment start date and within 3 weeks of job acceptance.
  • Able to obtain and maintain CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification within 3 weeks of job acceptance.
  • Experience with .NET programming languages including C# and VB.NET.
  • Experience with software testing, fault isolation, and resolution.
  • Experience with all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Good technical written and oral communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a team environment or individually with minimal supervision.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret (Single Scope Background Investigation) clearance.
  • Travel to contractors’ facilities, test sites, and other locations up to 15% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of basic networking (routing/switching/VLANs/firewalls).
  • Experience with networking hardware, configuration, and protocols.
  • Experience with Microsoft C++.
  • Experience with Java programming language and the Eclipse and/or NetBeans IDE.
  • Solid understanding of XSD schema format files and how to maintain and enhance schema rulesets.
  • Basic experience with Agile programming—specifically Scrum Framework.
  • Familiarity with source control and configuration control software; Git experience.
  • Proficient with MS Team Foundation Server, Windows OS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of tactical data links and protocols (Link 16, SADL, JREAP).
  • Experience with programming IP TCP and UDP connections and maintenance.
  • Experience with programming IP and serial packet capture and dissection.
  • Knowledgeable of MIL-STD-6016, MIL-STD-3011, and MIL-STD-1553.
  • Familiar with DoD software certification and Risk Management Framework Assess and Authorize processes.
  • Current DoD Top Secret (Single Scope Background Investigation) clearance.
  • Experience working with Special Access Programs.
