Software Developer (in-person Grand Rapids, MI)

Stenger & Stenger is a technology-driven law firm serving clients across 12 states. Our software development team builds and maintains the internal systems that power every aspect of our business—from legal workflows and automation to reporting and data analysis. We're looking for a developer who enjoys solving business problems, writing clean code, and working extensively with SQL Server. What You'll Do

• Developing and maintaining Windows desktop applications using C# and VB.NET
• Writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions
• Designing and improving reports that help drive business decisions
• Working with large datasets to improve performance and usability
• Troubleshooting application and database issues
• Participating in code reviews and contributing to development standards and best practices
• Contributing ideas that improve existing applications and processes

What We're Looking For

• Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Professional experience developing applications using C# and/or VB.NET
• Strong Microsoft SQL Server experience, including: Complex queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and database design fundamentals
• Experience debugging and maintaining existing applications
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members

PREFERRED

• Experience with WinForms or WPF desktop applications
• Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Power BI, Crystal Reports, or similar reporting tools
• Familiarity with Entity Framework
• Experience optimizing SQL performance
• Experience integrating third-party APIs
• Exposure to OCR, document automation, or AI technologies
