About the role

Responsibilities

  • Performs professional-level duties in the development and implementation of software solutions designed to meet the Court’s business and operational needs;
  • Designs, codes, tests, modifies and produces software applications and application features for multiple platforms;
  • Works with project team members and client departments to determine and identify software solution options for business process automation and recommends the most effective option;
  • Creates prototypes and functional specifications for software development projects; assists in and/or develops technical specifications; provides feedback and support to the application and project technical specification process;
  • Writes and maintains applications code, using a diverse range of languages and tools; performs code reviews of peers and team members to mitigate errors or bugs; makes changes, resolves any coding conflicts and finalizes coding.
  • Designs and modifies database structures and workflow for new software applications and features; creates and updates various database objects; defines access levels for database segments and defines users accessibility to ensure database integrity and security.
  • Recommends, designs and executes the testing process of new applications and features; confirms that applications function as designed and meet the requirements of client departments or makes necessary changes.
  • Coordinates the set up and installation of applications on to servers with other department team members such as the network and desktop support teams.
  • Performs ongoing support to new or modified applications; fixes bugs; implements change requests.
  • Serves as a project manager on assigned projects; conducts research to determine and design effective solutions for assigned projects and assists others in doing the same; estimates time needed for projects; develops project schedules, documentation and specifications; ensures projects are completed within timeline.
  • Stays current with new technology; researches and recommends new emerging technologies to fulfill Court or user needs.
  • Attends and contributes to a variety of department, team and project related meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be equivalent to Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field and one (1) year of recent experience providing support to software design and development projects.
  • Equivalent to Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field and two (2) years of software development and programming experience comparable to that gained as a Software Developer I.
  • Equivalent to Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field and four (4) years of software development and programming experience comparable to that gained as a Software Developer II.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of: Principles, practices, and methodologies for software design, development, testing, production, and implementation in multiple operating environments.
  • Software and database architecture and security.
  • Multiple programming languages and concepts.
  • Database development and management tools.
  • Principles and practices of database security, design, model creation, backups, and disaster recovery.
  • Basic networking principles and practices.
  • Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, regulatory codes, ordinances, and procedures relevant to the area of assignment.
  • Research techniques, methods, and procedures.
  • Technical report writing practices and procedures.
  • Principles and procedures of recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Modern office practices, methods, and computer equipment and applications related to the work.
  • English usage, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Techinques for providing a high level of customer service by effectively dealing with the public, vendors, contractors, and Court staff.

Skills

  • Design, develop, configure, and implement software projects throughout the project life cycle.
  • Code applications in a diverse range of languages.
  • Prepare project technical documentation.
  • Design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance-tune production databases while ensuring database integrity and security.

  • Level II: $43.13 - $52.65 hourly
  • Level III: $47.65 - $58.18 hourly
