Software Developer, Front End Web Development

About the role

Reporting to the Associate Director, Digital Product within the JAX Communications and Marketing department, the Software Developer, Front End Web Development applies deep knowledge of CSS, HTML, and JavaScript to develop, create, and modify software solutions that optimize operational efficiency. This role serves as a critical link in building a scalable system to translate business requirements into functional, production-quality digital components, ensuring a consistent brand experience across JAX’s digital properties.

Key responsibilities include translating digital designs into production-ready web assets that work across all devices and browsers, implementing complex interactivity on the Sitecore platform (including machine learning capabilities, module creation, search applications, templating, API development, and personalization), and analyzing problems to identify and implement solutions following best practices for code updates to production.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality web components using well-formed and clearly structured code.
• Interface with UX Designers and internal clients to define technical needs.
• Analyze information to support Senior Web Architects in maintaining web development operations systems, ensuring clean, error-free deployments.
• Analyze metrics to evaluate the success of new features and improve, manage testing systems, and determine the feasibility of design, capabilities, and processing specifications.
• Optimize existing pages and perform web maintenance.
• Develop HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript in a high-volume production environment.
• Review, modify, and code complex interactivity on the Sitecore platform, including implementing machine learning capabilities, module creation, search applications, templating, API development, and personalization.
• Correct errors and implement solutions following best practices for code updates to production.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience based on an equivalency evaluation by a qualified credential evaluator) and 1 year of software engineering or development experience working as part of an Agile development team in a high-volume production environment.

• Experience building scalable systems to translate business requirements into functional, production-quality digital components using CMS platforms (e.g., Sitecore, Contentstack), Git version control, and Agile ticketing systems.
• Experience executing front-end development as the sole developer on high-volume projects, particularly in biomedical research methodology, delivering responsive, production-ready interfaces.
• Experience executing front-end development in compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
• Experience reviewing and optimizing existing front-end code to improve page load time.
• Experience working with UX designers to review and improve user experience.
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.

Pay

Between $70,533 and $108,857 per year.
