About the role

Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a Software Developer to join the Platform Mission Applications Team. This team integrates, deploys, and ensures Continuous Delivery (CD) of Mission Partner applications across all fabrics using tools such as Istio, Kiali, K9s, Grafana, Keycloak, GitLab, Kustomize, Helm, and ArgoCD. The role involves developing deployment and integration manifests to create Kubernetes objects, resources, policies, and components for deploying Mission Partner applications into the ecosystem.

The Platform Mission Applications team is divided into three focus areas:

• Platform Mission Apps Development & Engineering (MADE): Focuses on automation development and sustainment, including GitLab Mission Partner self-service deployment pipelines and Infrastructure as Code. Maintains the Mission Apps Padawan site.
• Platform Mission Apps Customer Empowerment (MACE): Handles Mission Partner onboarding, mission manifest project development/integration, mission-bootstrap integration, configuration management, and catalog sustainment.
• Platform Mission Apps Tier 3 (MAT3): Provides Tier 3 support, including SOP/troubleshooting guide sustainment and maintaining Mission Applications infrastructure (e.g., mTLS gateways, third-party tools, Istio/Kyverno configurations, and policies).

Responsibilities

• Integrate, deploy, and ensure Continuous Delivery (CD) of Mission Partner applications using tools like Istio, Kiali, K9s, Grafana, Keycloak, GitLab, Kustomize, Helm, and ArgoCD.
• Develop deployment and integration manifests for Kubernetes objects, resources, policies, and components.
• Work within one or more of the team’s focus areas: automation development, Mission Partner onboarding, or Tier 3 support.
• Collaborate on infrastructure as code, monitoring, logging, and scripting to support mission-critical applications.

Requirements

• IAT or IAM Level II DoD 8570 Certification.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to access secure facilities (SIPR & JWICS).
• Experience with microservice orchestration, with a heavy emphasis on Kubernetes.
• Experience with Kustomize and Helm.
• Experience with Linux.
• Experience with GitOps and CI/CD, with a focus on GitLab.
• 5+ years of experience in application deployment and release management.
• 3+ years of experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, ArgoCD).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash).
• Strong understanding of application deployment strategies (blue/green, canary).

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with advanced application and network troubleshooting, database administration, and PKI management.
• Experience with cloud providers, particularly AWS services.
• Experience with Agile Methodologies.
• Experience with automation, including batch scripting, pipeline automation, Kubernetes operators, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible).
• Experience with cloud-native application architectures.
• Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).
• Experience with security scanning and vulnerability management tools.
• Experience with platform engineering concepts.
