About the role

Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a Software Developer to join our Platform Mission Applications Team. Team members are responsible for integrating, deploying, and ensuring Continuous Delivery (CD) of Mission Partner applications across all fabrics using tools such as Istio, Kiali, K9s, Grafana, Keycloak, GitLab, Kustomize, Helm, and ArgoCD. The role involves developing deployment and integration manifests to create required Kubernetes objects, resources, policies, and components for deploying Mission Partner applications into our ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automation for Mission Partner self-service deployment pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (GitLab pipelines, IaC).
• Maintain the Mission Apps Padawan site.
• Support Mission Partner onboarding, including mission manifest project development, integration, and mission-bootstrap integration.
• Sustain configuration management and catalog maintenance.
• Provide Tier 3 support for Mission Partners, including SOP/troubleshooting guide sustainment and maintaining Mission Applications infrastructure (e.g., mTLS gateways, third-party tools, Istio/Kyverno configurations, and policies).
• Orchestrate microservices with a focus on Kubernetes.
• Implement GitOps and CI/CD pipelines, with an emphasis on GitLab.
• Manage application deployment and release strategies (e.g., blue/green, canary).
• Utilize infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Monitor and log systems using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.

Requirements

• IAT or IAM Level II DoD 8570 Certification.
• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• Ability to access secure facilities with SIPR & JWICS.
• 5+ years of experience in application deployment and release management.
• 3+ years of experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, ArgoCD).
• Experience with Kustomize and Helm.
• Experience with Linux.
• Experience with infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash).
• Strong understanding of application deployment strategies (blue/green, canary).

Qualifications (Desired)

• Experience with advanced application and network troubleshooting, database administration, and PKI management.
• Experience with cloud providers, particularly AWS services.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Experience with automation, including batch scripting, pipeline automation, Kubernetes operators, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible).
• Experience with cloud-native application architectures.
• Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).
• Experience with security scanning and vulnerability management tools.
• Experience with platform engineering concepts.
