About the role

Omega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Software Developer 2 to support ongoing operations in Los Alamos, NM. This position has the possibility to be flexible: 100% onsite, or remote with onsite travel when needed (subject to manager approval). The role requires working well under pressure, possibly on several applications simultaneously in a highly agile structure while maintaining the laboratory’s high security mandates. A strong background in Java, specifically the Spring framework, is required. High-level knowledge of Angular and MySQL databases is desired. The candidate must be comfortable and willing to carry out test-driven development.

Responsibilities

• Work well under pressure, potentially on multiple applications simultaneously in a highly agile environment
• Maintain the laboratory’s high security mandates
• Develop using Java and the Spring framework
• Apply high-level knowledge of Angular and MySQL databases
• Carry out test-driven development practices
• Resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways as a seasoned IT professional
• Provide resolutions to diverse, complex problems requiring evaluation of identifiable factors
• Contribute to the development of organizational goals and objectives
• Work under limited direction, receiving general instructions on new assignments
• Provide limited technical direction and/or coordinate activities of other personnel
• Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
• Determine approach to solutions, plan schedule, and arrange own activities to accomplish objectives

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• U.S. Citizenship
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance
• Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, including drug and breath alcohol test and Motor Vehicle Record check
• Strong background in Java and the Spring framework

Preferred Qualifications

• Active DOE/DoD clearance within the past two years
• Previous DOE/NNSA work experience
• Java/Spring certifications
• MySQL database experience
• Experience with newer versions of Angular

Schedule

Shift will be dependent upon customer site discretion.
