Amazon Leo is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Leo will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all phases of software development from requirements through implementation and test to operations
  • Develop embedded software in C, C++, Rust, or other languages in a real-time operating system environment
  • Develop AWS cloud services that manage the Leo satellites
  • Write system applications for satellite command, file transfer and telemetry
  • Work closely with Leo ground service teams and satellite agent teams to support satellite operations

Requirements

  • Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

About The Team

The team owns end-to-end Leo satellite onboard agents and ground services that interact with them to provide seamless Leo satellite command, file transfer, telemetry, and logging.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 3+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 3+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
  • 3+ years of Object-Oriented Design experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

Skills

  • Preferred: 2+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Pay

USA, WA, Redmond - $143,700.00 - $194,400.00 USD annually
