About the role
The Software Engineer (Applications) designs, develops, and maintains software solutions for local, networked, cloud-based, or web-based environments. This role involves analyzing user requirements, writing and debugging code, and implementing enhancements for commercial or internal applications such as financial systems, HR platforms, or mobile apps. Responsibilities also include testing, documentation, and collaborating with users or cross-functional teams to refine system functionality.
Responsibilities
- Applies a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach for modifications of existing applications, simple changes, reports, and service requests with minimal direction.
- Designs and develops data processing systems, processes, and enhancements for the company’s sophisticated systems.
- Develops software for data import/export/conversion and creates utilities that enable balancing of converted data.
- Participates in group design discussions and understands basic storage design concepts.
- Demonstrates basic proficiency in software development, design, testing, maintenance, configuration management, engineering tools, and software quality.
- Documents processes and procedures related to the implementation and maintenance of storage solutions.
- Collaborates closely with internal customers daily to cultivate positive relationships, listen to their needs, and ask appropriate questions to determine requirements.
- Works with other parts of the organization to share and analyze customer requirements, then develops and implements the best strategies and processes to meet those needs.
- Swiftly addresses customer concerns or service-level incidents by personally fixing issues, implementing solutions, or escalating as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
- Proficient in design, system integration, and performance tuning.
- Collaborates across teams to deliver scalable solutions.
- Applies structured problem-solving techniques.
- Fluent in C programming language.
- Capable of programming Unix/Linux shell scripting.
- Firm knowledge of relational database systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for data-related issues.
Pay
The estimated starting compensation range is $59,795 – $122,400. The actual pay offered may vary based on background, skills, experience, and work location. The company complies with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.
