About the Role

RiseBoro Community Partnership is seeking a master’s-level Social Worker to lead a New York State LEAPS grant initiative at our school-based sites: RiseBoro Beacon and IS 349 Programs. This role aims to enhance social, emotional, and mental health services for youth in north Brooklyn, addressing critical needs as the community recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Responsibilities

• Family and Community Engagement
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, local agencies, and resources to support families.
  • Connect families with services and resources that promote stability and growth.
  • Collaborate with RiseBoro leadership, school administration, teachers, staff, and community organizations to address student and family needs.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of family needs and provide targeted support.
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate workshops and events focused on mentorship, employment, life skills, and family well-being.
• Case Management and Internship Supervision
  • Supervise the MSW internship program, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to interns.
  • Work alongside MSW interns to conduct small group and one-on-one sessions with students, focusing on social-emotional learning, personal development, and crisis intervention.
  • Oversee the referral process for students and families in need of additional support.
  • Guide interns in comprehensive case management, including action plans, progress tracking, and intervention adjustments.
  • Build and maintain multidisciplinary teams to support students’ social, emotional, and academic development.
• Positive Youth Development
  • Serve as a role model and lead in developing foundational skills, including positive youth development, social-emotional learning, and behavior management.
  • Provide ongoing training, support, and coaching to staff on positive youth development and behavior management strategies.
  • Ensure practices align with child development principles and current methodologies.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders, participate in school-based meetings, and contribute to long-term planning.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
• New York State LMSW Licensure or SIFI certification required.
• At least 2 years of experience in a youth setting, working directly with students and families.

Skills

• Strong understanding of social services systems and experience navigating them effectively.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative and proactive approach.
• Experience providing training and coaching to staff on positive youth development and social-emotional learning.
