Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Qualifications

  • Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Must have a master's degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited school.
  • Must be licensed or certified as an advanced practice social worker.
  • Must meet current state requirements for social work licensure.

Experience

  • One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level.
  • Experience must demonstrate advanced practice skills and judgment.
  • Candidates may have certification or other post-master's degree training.
  • Must be able to provide supervision for licensure.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Skill in coordinating and implementing specialty programs.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to provide full range of supervisory duties.
  • Ability to oversee fiscal matters.
  • Knowledge of organizational structure and its impact on program operations.

Physical Requirements

  • Generally minor physical demands involving sitting - standing - walking - bending - stooping - climbing stairs - and carrying light items.
  • Uses a computer and standard office equipment.
  • Emotional demands can be stressful due to working with the Veteran/Patient population and their families/caregivers.

Program Overview

The Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MH RRTP) at Tennessee Valley focuses on SUD and PTSD. It provides a comprehensive - evidence-based - patient-centered treatment program in a safe environment to help residents achieve and maintain independence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead an interdisciplinary team including social workers - vocational rehabilitation specialists - addiction therapists - psychologists - peer specialists - clinical pharmacy practitioners - psychiatric nurses - nurse practitioners - and nurses.
  • Direct, administer, and manage all aspects of the program.
  • Determine program needs.
  • Evaluate assigned program areas.
  • Create a supportive work environment.
  • Triage and assign referrals for services.
  • Maintain therapeutic relationships and provide treatment.
  • Implement ongoing program evaluation and outcome projects.

Qualifications for Program Manager

  • Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced setting.
  • Experience treating SUD and/or PTSD in inpatient or outpatient settings.
  • Experience with clinical consultation and creating evidence-based therapeutic practices.
  • Experience with clinical practice guidelines.
  • Experience with program planning - implementation - and management.
  • Experience with program evaluation and outcome projects.
