About the role
As a Psychiatric Social Worker, you will play an integral role by assessing, planning, and coordinating social services for psychiatric patients.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and implement discharge planning for unit patients
- Obtain continued-stay authorizations from the patient’s payer/MCO
- Facilitate patient’s transit through the continuum of care utilizing appropriate resources
- Plan and organize family assessment meetings
- Coordinate and lead family/individual therapy sessions when feasible
- Provide education for staff within limits of the discipline
Requirements
- Minimum of one year of experience on an Inpatient Psychiatric Unit with Crisis Intervention
- Experience in behavioral evaluation
- Ability to comfortably and competently assess child, adolescent, adult, or geriatric patients
- Ability to understand written and verbal instructions in English sufficiently to perform job duties
- Strong assessment skills and sound judgment in setting priorities and decision-making
- Ability to share observations with the Psychiatrist, nursing staff, and Allied Therapists
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Social Work required
- Licensed Social Worker in the state of Pennsylvania preferred
Schedule
Per diem position requiring a minimum of 16 hours per month (2, 8-hour shifts); must be available to work weekdays and weekends.
