Social Worker III (Kids First) - Kapolei, Oahu
About the role
This position provides professional social work, crisis intervention, counseling, referral, and program support services for the Kids First program, which promotes positive co-parenting relationships and effective communication among families involved in divorce and paternity custody cases.
Responsibilities
- Serving as a primary point of contact for parents
- Assessing family needs and crisis situations
- Providing guidance on divorce-related issues, parenting concerns, and available community resources
- Determining the appropriateness of program participation and making referrals to specialized services when needed
- Evaluating requests for program exemptions and making recommendations to the court
- Oversight of children's program sessions
- Consultation and direction to volunteer facilitators
- Intervening in emotionally charged or disruptive situations to ensure participant safety and program effectiveness
- Recruiting, screening, training, and evaluating volunteer facilitators
- Collaborating with service providers and community partners
- Disseminating program information to court personnel, attorneys, and the public
- Supporting program development and evaluation efforts
- Ensuring meaningful access to services for individuals with disabilities or limited English proficiency through coordination of translation and interpreter services
Requirements
Note: This position requires a current valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle.
Qualifications
- Education Requirement: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree which included a minimum of twelve (12) semester credit hours in courses such as social work, social welfare, criminal justice, human services, counseling, psychology, sociology, or other related social sciences.
- Specialized Experience: One and one-half (1-1/2) years of progressively responsible professional social work experience which involved utilizing a variety of social work skills and exercising professional judgement in the process of assisting individuals and their families with identifying their problems, evaluating the situation realistically, and considering resources and alternative courses of action pertinent to their needs and circumstances.
- Selective Certification Requirement - Driver's License: For this position, applicants must possess a current and valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle.
