About the Role
Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine is hiring 2 Certified Peer Recovery Specialists to serve as Liver Coaches on our Mobile Liver Health Unit. These Coaches will serve as a bridge between rural residents of Cumberland County and clinical health care service providers for hepatitis C (HCV) screening, treatment, and educational support.
This is a temporary full-time, 3-4-month position with renewal possible, located in Stratford, NJ with travel throughout Cumberland County.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Project Director to implement proposed activities, including developing goals and operational systems for the Liver Health Mobile Unit.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the project, provide clinical supervision to liver health coaches, and serve as the evaluator for the project.
- Educate patients who test positive for Hepatitis C about treatment stages, removal of barriers to care, and other support leading to an HCV cure using direct-acting antivirals.
- Develop training materials and responsibilities for the Hepatitis C Elimination Service Corps.
- Train liver health coaches and Hepatitis C Elimination Service Corps.
- Provide supervision to liver health coaches (CPRS) to screen Cumberland County residents for HCV and HIV and ensure they are linked to care.
- Coordinate a Hepatitis C Elimination Service Corps of medical students who will assist in screening residents for HCV.
- Coordinate the implementation of the Hepatitis C Self-Management Program curriculum with liver health coaches.
- Ensure data collection is implemented in accordance with grant reporting requirements.
- Prepare and submit program reports under the supervision of the Project Director.
- Coordinate with project partners to ensure grant activities and timelines are met and serve as a liaison between all entities.
- Assist in creating project schedules that reflect project team involvement and determine the best course of action to ensure project goals are met.
- Work with the Project Director to develop a calendar of outreach events and coordinate access to ample supplies and staffing for events.
- Work with the Project Director and partners to coordinate community engagement and outreach.
- Coordinate Mobile Staff operations.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Participate in all training required for the grant.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and spreadsheets containing findings, analyses, conclusions, and recommendations as requested.
- Assist in the preparation of reports required by the sponsor.
- Understand and adhere to Rowan-Virtua SOM compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Keep abreast of all federal, state, and Rowan University regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
Requirements
- Must work on a mobile health unit in Cumberland County, New Jersey.
- Full-time, temporary 3-4 month position with renewal possible, contingent upon grant funding.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work with experience in HIV/HCV testing, care coordination, and wraparound services, preferably on a mobile unit or within an infectious disease clinic.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to function in a team environment.

Pay
The annual base salary range for this position is $70,000-$79,000, with placement within the range determined by candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors.
