Social Worker, Brooklyn Felony Diversion
About the role
The Brooklyn Felony Diversion Social Worker will support individuals facing felony charges who are not eligible for Mental Health Court or other treatment courts in Brooklyn. The Social Worker will conduct psychosocial assessments, provide case management, and coordinate with community partners to ensure participants receive high-quality, evidence-based, and culturally responsive clinical assessments and treatment services.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial clinical assessments, draft reports, and provide recommendations to court parties for services and treatment
- Provide clinically-informed case management services addressing substance use, mental health issues, trauma, domestic violence, housing, and educational/vocational needs
- Manage and monitor compliance with treatment mandates, including care coordination with providers and obtaining compliance updates for court
- Work to ensure the provision of high-quality, evidence-based, and culturally responsive clinical assessments and treatment services
- Provide written and verbal participant reports to the court and other court staff
- Coordinate and collaborate with a consulting psychiatrist
- Develop and implement new initiatives, including best clinical practices and appropriate evidence-based interventions
- Support clients in crisis or with imminent needs to be addressed
- Attend court on calendar days to help clients navigate court and collaborate with court staff and stakeholders
- Participate in regular interdisciplinary case conferences with court stakeholders and treatment providers
- Provide clinical guidance and information on trauma-informed practices to Brooklyn Felony ATI Diversion team members
- Attend all required staff meetings and trainings
- Attend community-based events after hours, as needed
Requirements
Preferred qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field
- Master's degree in social work preferred
- Experience working with individuals involved in the criminal justice system
- Experience with trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices
- Knowledge of community resources and services
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
- Current license to practice social work in New York State
- Experience with psychosocial assessments and case management
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Skills

Pay
The compensation range for this position is $60,500 - $78,800 and is commensurate with experience.
