Role Summary
As a Master of Social Work (MSW), you will play a vital role on our team, focusing on the holistic care of our patients. Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining relationships with patients, families, and staff to understand and address their social, spiritual, and emotional needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides medical social services under the direction of a physician.
- Affirms the personal worth, spiritual well-being, and human dignity of each patient through a comprehensive understanding of their health issues.
- Develops and maintains community contacts to utilize available resources to meet patients' individual needs.
- Participates in the development and review of the plan of care for assigned patients.
- Affirms the social, spiritual, and emotional needs/factors of patients and families to help them cope with daily living challenges.
- Supports patients and families in following medical recommendations and provides services to assist with their health adjustment.
- Observes, records, and reports social, spiritual, and emotional changes in patients.
- Participates in ongoing educational programs.
- Assesses a family’s financial situation, considering the patient’s prognosis and medical needs, and refers them to an agency for financial assistance if necessary.
Skills, Knowledge, And Experience
- Masters in Social Work degree (MSW) required.
- 1-2 years’ experience in a medical setting where the team approach was utilized, preferred.
- Experience in Medical Social Work with elderly population, preferred.
