Essential Functions

  • Develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate comprehensive social work services and programs for students and families.
  • Provide and coordinate group counseling programs for students.
  • Meet with families of troubled students.
  • Conduct and coordinate individual or group counseling for at-risk students.
  • Provide counseling to facilitate the development of a plan to address personal problems.
  • Interact proactively with students and families to avoid crisis situations.
  • Maintain case records that evidence planning and appropriate record-keeping.
  • Respond to transitional information shared from various feeder forms.
  • Consult with Student Services, faculty, and community agency representatives.
  • Attend staffing meetings.
  • Coordinate the homebound process.
  • Process records for students involved in school transfers.
  • Aid in the completion of the Comprehensive Evaluation Report.
  • Maintain and continually update a directory of referral services.
  • Serve as a liaison between appropriate social service and community agencies and the school.
  • Initiate attendance related petitions and prepare cases for formal hearing.
  • Prepare all investigative data necessary for the completion of the citation process.
  • Review enrollment, attendance, and transfers to ensure compliance with applicable laws and sound principles of accounting.
  • Counsel students in matters of attendance and tardiness.
  • Visit the homes of students to enforce school attendance and residency.
  • Provide support to staff, teachers, and administrators.
  • Work with children experiencing attendance problems.
  • Support a multidisciplinary and flexible Student Services Team.

Education Required

  • Master's Degree in Social Work

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Experience in analyzing data and assessing students' needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, career counseling/guidance, curriculum and training design, individual/group teaching and instruction, evaluation of trainings.
  • Knowledge of IEP Processes, assessments, emotional needs of students, applicable federal/state laws and regulations, mandates related to mental health services and Special Education programs.
  • Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders, families, students, and school personnel.
  • Experience in strategic planning and implementation of counseling services and programs.
  • Ability to foster and promote innovation.
  • A commitment to accelerating student achievement, eliminating racial disparities, and creating a positive school/district culture.
  • A capacity to solve problems, to stay organized and manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint (Schoology, ESchools, IEP Writer plus preferred).
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
