Our Community Schools & Youth Development (CSYD) program delivers high-quality youth development programs throughout the Lower East Side, integrated into the school day, after school programs, and summer enrichment opportunities. Partnering with several NYC public schools, CSYD collaborates with the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD), NYC Office of Community Schools (OCS), The Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), and local school communities to meet the needs of young people and their families. Our team of social workers ensures social-emotional learning is embedded in our work, providing individualized care and attention when needed.
We are seeking a full-time Social Worker who will provide social work services and support to individuals and communities in need, helping clients manage challenges such as neglect, abuse, domestic violence, mental health issues, and parental substance abuse.
Responsibilities
- Investigate suspected allegations of abuse and neglect and ensure the safety and well-being of clients.
- Assess and evaluate the needs of individuals and families to determine appropriate social work interventions based on their social and economic obstacles.
- Develop and implement care plans to address clients' physical, emotional, and social well-being, subject to review by courts or regulatory bodies.
- Create comprehensive case files, thorough court reports that adhere to legal standards, and relevant reports and referrals for Agency programs within specified deadlines.
- Enter data accurately online into one or more computer systems based on client interactions, assessments, and progress.
- Counsel and support individuals, families, and groups facing difficult situations or challenges.
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as psychologists, healthcare providers, and educators, to coordinate services and ensure comprehensive care.
- Advocate for clients' rights and access to resources, including social services, healthcare, and educational opportunities.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and adjust strategies as needed.
- Stay updated on social work best practices, research, and legal and ethical guidelines.
Qualifications
- NYS LMSW required.
- 1-3 years experience in a similar role.
- Understanding of principles and techniques of interviewing necessary to determine facts and clarify perceived relevant and significant information from hostile and/or reluctant individuals.
- Knowledge of dynamics of human behavior, including individuals and families with various social, psychological, and economic challenges.
- Awareness of various treatment modalities and alternatives for individuals and families with a variety of complex social, psychological, and economic challenges.
- Analytical and stress management skills.
- Adaptable to changing needs and demands.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, preferred.
