Job Summary
The Social Service Assistant for the Liogue Senior Center is responsible for assisting the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Caseworkers with client needs. Incumbent may perform the following duties: conduct transports and escorts, monitor visits, conduct life skills training, perform clerical activities, and maintain related records.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Transport and assist senior clients with special needs to visitations, court appearances, and medical appointments such as mental health appointments, therapy sessions, and any other type of appointments as needed.
- Maintain and update client records and files, document and monitor client activity, and progress.
- Perform a variety of customer service activities, including assist families and individuals by referring them to appropriate social service agencies or outside resources.
- Perform a variety of specialized administrative support activities, which may include compile training and collateral materials, schedule intake appointments, make payments according to established guidelines, create case files, explain policies and procedures, and perform other related activities.
- Cookordinate with customers and community service providers to ensure service delivery for applicable individuals; supervise court ordered visitations.
- Assist clients in filling out appropriate forms and documents for programs, verify information and reviews for compliance with established regulations and guidelines, maintain, and update client files.
- Conduct home visits with clients to verify participation and monitor progress.
- Attend meetings, staffing, and court hearings; give input for overall client service plans and reports on activities as needed.

- Theories, principals and practice of Social Work with special emphasis on confidentiality and boundaries;
- Tribal, city, county community resources;
- Customer service principles;
- Clerical office support practices;
- Recordkeeping principles;
- English language, grammar, and punctuation;
- Applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations;
- Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions and/or a willingness to learn.
Education, Certifications, and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED with additional Social Services training and one (1) year of experience working with elderly and special needs clients;
- Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Special Requirements
- TB Screening;
- First Aid, CPR, and AED Certifications or ability to obtain such certifications withing six (6) months of hire;
- This position may require the incumbent to work non-traditional hours, nights, and weekends;
- Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License;
- Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card.
