Responsibilities
- Work directly with families, supervisor, and NCDC leadership to create Individualized Camper Plans (ICPs) for campers who require additional support
- Beginning in April, conduct virtual and/or in-person intakes with new NCDC camp families and their camper(s)
- Update ICPs for returning campers on specified caseload
- Train supervisees (Support Specialists) how to use and implement ICPs for camper success
- Observe and check-in with Support Specialists and individual campers as needed throughout the day
- Be available for crisis management for all NCDC campers throughout the camp season
- Utilize disability-inclusion and trauma-informed care as a lens for all aspects of camper experience (e.g., assessing activities and providing necessary support to ensure a camper’s success)
- Attend pre-camp meetings with families and/or staff as needed
- Communicate with parents as needed through the camp season, including being available via phone and email until 6:30pm nightly
- Compose and send families individual camper highlights (Rose Communications) weekly
- Communicate and effectively partner as needed with Division Supervisors, Aquatics Staff, and Program staff regarding camper needs and concerns
- Ensure that all campers who benefit from additional support have plans set in place to support them on the bus ride to/from camp
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Education, Special Education, Social Work, Psychology, or related field required
- Some graduate experience or Master’s Degree strongly preferred
- Experience as a leader in an inclusive, educational setting, or similar experience
- Background in elementary and/or special education, social work, or relevant setting
- Previous supervisory experience
