Social Work Post-MSW Fellowship, Psychological Clinic (Adult Mental Health Services)

Job Summary

The Psychological Clinic at the University of Michigan is excited to offer one full-time, 12-month Post-MSW Graduate Fellowship. This is an advanced clinical training program beginning February 3, 2027 and ending February 2, 2028 with an opportunity to extend for a second year. The mission of this Post-MSW graduate training program is to advance practice competency, professionalism, and leadership in the field of clinical social work and is designed for a clinical social worker with a limited license (LLMSW) in the State of Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical service with supervision from expert clinicians.
• Participate in a core curriculum of seminars and clinical conferences.
• Consult with other professionals.
• Engage in community outreach.
• Gain supervised experience with providing diagnostic assessments, individual psychotherapy (with options for group and couples therapy), and risk assessment and management.
• Supervise social work fellows, with additional supervision provided by licensed psychologists.
• Develop case conceptualization, treatment planning, and clinical intervention skills tailored to individuals based on unique identities, histories, and experiences.
• Engage in issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion and professional development throughout the fellowship experience.

Required Qualifications

• Direct clinical experience using evidence-based interventions, in person and via telehealth, with adults from diverse backgrounds.
• Satisfactorily completed an accredited Social Work Master's Program and hold a Limited License in Social Work in the State of Michigan (LLMSW).

About the Clinic

The Psychological (Psych) Clinic is a multidisciplinary, multitheoretical, and training-focused outpatient mental health clinic serving adults in the community with a senior staff of social workers and psychologists, clinical trainees in both disciplines, and a psychiatrist. The Psych Clinic (PC) is part of the Mary A. Rackham Institute (MARI), whose primary mission is to strengthen community wellness through individualized, innovative, and results-oriented mental health and language clinical services, while also educating the community about mental health, treating clients of all ages and backgrounds, and training the next generation of practitioners. Our supervisory staff at PC have a range of areas of expertise including but not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Couples Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Approaches, Multicultural Approaches, Anxiety and Mood Disorders, Trauma, Challenges with attention and executive functioning skills, Interpersonal/social challenges, Testing Services for ADHD and Learning Disabilities, Clinical Supervision.
