Social Services District Manager

Under general supervision, the Social Services District Manager performs complex administrative and professional work by planning, implementing, directing, and reviewing programs, activities, and operations within Marion County child welfare units of CPS and Youth Services.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, direct, and administer the operation of multiple units within CPS and Youth Services.
• Develop and implement policies for child welfare programs.
• Coordinate and direct activities within assigned units.
• Act as a liaison within the Bureau for Social Services with state and federal partners to facilitate problem resolution of complex matters.
• Collaborate with community partners, outside agencies, and service providers to assist in services provided to clients.
• Be on-call during non-business hours with access to a telephone.
• Maintain detailed records and extensive documentation.
• Travel frequently as required.

Requirements

• Possess a valid WV driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Successful completion of a background check is required for employment.
• Must obtain licensure as a Social Worker from the West Virginia Board of Social Work within a timeframe set by the appointing agency. Until licensure is obtained, may not perform duties that require a licensed social worker under state law or Board regulation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Six (6) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in a human services related area (such as case work, social work, counseling, child services, and/or adult services).

For internal applicants only: Four (4) years of experience in the Child Protective Service, Child Welfare, or Adult Protective Service Worker series, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity, may substitute for the required education and experience.

Additional education and experience may be substituted based on a year-for-year basis or as determined by the Office of Shared Administration Equivalency Chart.
