Social Services Assistant

About the role

As a Social Services Assistant, you will assist the Social Service Coordinator and Social Workers in providing medically related social services to ensure each resident attains or maintains the highest practicable level of physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. You will also promote a supportive environment that enables residents to maximize their individuality, independence, and dignity.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing medically related social services
• Promote a supportive environment for residents
• Work with the Social Service Coordinator and Social Workers
• Engage with residents to understand and meet their needs

Requirements

• Minimum of one year of supervised social service experience in a healthcare setting working primarily with the geriatric population
• Minimum of two years of prior experience in a long-term care facility, skilled nursing facility, assisted living facility, or memory care facility

Qualifications

• A degree in Social Work or a related field is preferred
• A Social Service Certificate or 36-Hour Social Service Designee Certificate is preferred
• A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare setting
• A minimum of two years of experience in a long-term care facility, skilled nursing facility, assisted living facility, or memory care facility
