About the role
The Social Service Assistant IV (DL) position in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii is responsible for performing extensive field work and outreach functions. They serve as a liaison between professional staff and clients, or potential clients, and perform preliminary screening for continued eligibility.
Responsibilities
- Performs clerical tasks in processing various documents.
- Transports clients and materials to and from various destinations.
- Explains services available to clients or tenants.
- Affords assistance in overseeing group activities such as bowling and swimming.
Requirements
- Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Specialized Experience Requirement: At least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in providing supportive services to social workers, vocational rehabilitation specialists, public housing managers, or other professional workers in such programs as public welfare, family court, vocational rehabilitation, or public housing.
- Selective Certification Requirement - Driver's License: Current and valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle.
Qualifications
Training received at an accredited college or university may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of three (3) years. Satisfactory completion of a social service aid and assistant curriculum at an accredited community college, technical school, or junior college which resulted in a Certificate of Achievement or Associate of Science or related degree may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two (2) years.
