About the role

The Hawai`i State Judiciary employs social workers in various programs throughout the courts. The positions involve diverse duties including supervision of juvenile and adult law violators, conducting child custody/visitation evaluations, and assisting in child welfare services cases.

Responsibilities

• Supervise juvenile and adult law violators
• Conduct child custody/visitation evaluations
• Assist protection order petitioners
• Engage family and community in juvenile cases
• Provide services and treatment to clients
• Prepare case records and reports
• Evaluate client's progress and adjust plans as needed

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice Administration, or related field with 12+ semester credit hours in social work, social welfare, criminal justice, human services, counseling, psychology, sociology, or related social sciences.
• Specialized Experience: One and one-half (1-1/2) years of progressively responsible professional social work experience involving utilizing social work skills and exercising professional judgement.
• Selective Certification Requirement: Current and valid driver's license.
• Preventive Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Requirement: No hiring or promotion for those with relevant sexual abuse history.
