Social Sciences Fellow, Grades 9-12
About the role
Greenwich Country Day School is an independent, co-educational day school with a current enrollment of over 1,400 students in grades N‑12 and a faculty and staff of over 350. The original Old Church Road campus serves grades N‑8, while the new High School, established in 2019, is located less than two miles away on Stanwich Road. Founded in 1926, GCDS is a family school where innovative teaching is encouraged; teachers model and foster a love of learning, challenge and inspire students toward academic excellence, and cultivate interests and talents outside the classroom. The school values purposeful and personal learning in a joyful environment, emphasizing the development of character, creativity, and a sense of personal value alongside strong academic skills. GCDS is committed to graduating ethical, confident leaders who possess a strong sense of purpose. The school’s large endowment helps fund competitive salaries and benefits, a robust professional development program, and up to $5,000 annual tuition assistance for graduate school. Housing on campus or nearby will be provided.
The Social Sciences Fellow for Grades 9‑12 will begin in August 2027. The Fellow will teach alongside a master teacher in 9th and 10th grade (global and American, respectively) interdisciplinary humanities programs, co‑teach, and in the second year propose, design, and teach 11th/12th grade specialized electives across all social sciences fields. The Fellow will be part of a larger cohort of new teachers mentored by a team of master teachers and will engage in meaningful collaboration with Social Sciences colleagues and Upper School faculty. The ideal candidate has a passion for working with Upper School students and teaching Humanities, along with a strong desire to learn about independent school teaching. Diversity is a core value at GCDS; we seek candidates who demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion, and candidates from underrepresented backgrounds are encouraged to apply. GCDS offers transportation support and accommodations, as needed, for candidates who travel from outside the region for on‑campus employment interviews.
