Social Media Specialist II
About the role
Yamaha Outboards is seeking a proactive, highly organized Social Media Specialist II to join our Marine Marketing team in Kennesaw, GA. This hands-on role leads the day-to-day execution of organic social media across priority channels and supports the growth and quality of Yamaha Outboards' social presence by planning, creating, coordinating, publishing, and optimizing content that connects with boating, fishing, and marine lifestyle audiences.
The ideal candidate can write well, think visually, identify content opportunities, adapt messaging by platform, move quickly, and bring fresh ideas forward. They should be familiar with how trends emerge and evolve across platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, with the judgment to determine which trends fit the Yamaha Outboards brand, audience, and voice.
This role will help improve content quality, increase content throughput, strengthen community engagement, and support a consistent pipeline of social-first content across Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook. The candidate must protect Yamaha Outboards' premium brand position and support the brand promise of "Reliability Starts Here" while engaging with customers, fans, dealers, influencers, ambassadors, internal teams, and external partners.
Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day execution of Yamaha Outboards' organic social media presence across priority channels, including Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook.
- Build and maintain forward-looking content calendars, ideally planned at least three months ahead, balancing product priorities, campaigns, lifestyle content, engagement posts, traffic-driving content, and timely opportunities.
- Create, source, brief, edit, and coordinate platform-native social content, with a strong focus on short-form video for Reels, Shorts, and TikTok.
- Manage the flow of content from outside content creators, including influencers, ambassadors, pro-staff, event partners, and other external contributors. This includes reviewing incoming content, identifying usable assets, coordinating usage needs, organizing files, requesting additional materials when needed, and helping turn creator-supplied content into brand-appropriate social posts.
- Write captions, hooks, post copy, and community responses that reflect Yamaha Outboards' brand voice and quality standards.
- Increase the quality, consistency, and volume of social content while maintaining accuracy, brand alignment, and approval discipline.
- Monitor collaborations, comments, messages, tags, and engagement opportunities, responding in a brand-appropriate voice and escalating sensitive issues when needed.
- Use analytics and performance results to understand what is working, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend practical monthly adjustments to content, cadence, and channel strategy.
- Stay current on social platform trends, competitor activity, audience behavior, content formats, and relevant boating, fishing, outdoor, and marine lifestyle topics.
- Support Yamaha Outboards marketing initiatives, including product launches, Yamaha Presents films, events, creator partnerships, content capture opportunities, and other brand storytelling efforts as needed.

- BA/BS degree in Marketing, Marketing Communications, related fields, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 3-5+ years of hands-on social media or digital marketing experience, preferably with responsibility for content calendars, organic social publishing, copywriting, platform management, and content coordination.
- Strong understanding of Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook, including short-form video, platform-native content, and how audiences engage differently across each channel.
- Ability to understand how trends emerge and evolve across platforms with the judgment to determine which trends are relevant and brand-appropriate.
- Excellent writing, grammar, proofreading, editing, and caption development skills, with the ability to match Yamaha Outboards' brand voice and communicate clearly.
- Strong creative judgment and the ability to recognize what makes social content engaging, useful, timely, credible, and brand-appropriate.
- Experience creating, editing, briefing, or coordinating social-first content, especially short-form video, creator content, event content, product content, and lifestyle content.
- Proven ability to take ownership, bring ideas forward, manage deadlines, and move work ahead with confidence and accountability.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage content calendars, approvals, assets, post copy, publishing schedules, and multiple workstreams at once.
