Social Media Specialist, Apartments.com – Richmond, VA
About the Role
The Social Media Specialist is responsible for onboarding clients, managing social media programs, developing engaging content, and providing strategic guidance to multifamily clients. This role serves as a trusted advisor, helping clients strengthen their online presence, engage residents and prospects, and achieve business objectives through social media. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, and Google Business Profile, along with current best practices for content development, community engagement, and paid social advertising. Success in this role requires strong writing skills, creativity, attention to detail, client-facing communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Social Media Specialist reports directly to the Manager, Social Media.
Responsibilities
- Create original written and visual social media content for apartment communities across the country.
- Develop and maintain social content calendars aligned with client goals, promotions, seasonality, and industry trends.
- Ensure all content reflects brand voice, platform best practices, and community-specific objectives.
- Design visually engaging social media graphics and creative assets using Canva and other approved design tools while maintaining brand standards and content quality.
- Manage client social media accounts across Facebook, Instagram, X, Google Business Profile, and other relevant platforms.
- Schedule and publish content using social media management tools.
- Monitor social media channels for comments, messages, mentions, and customer interactions, escalating issues as appropriate.
- Create, launch, monitor, and optimize paid social advertising campaigns across Meta platforms.
- Analyze campaign and content performance to identify opportunities for optimization and growth.
- Track key social media metrics and provide recommendations to improve engagement, reach, and overall effectiveness.
- Stay informed on platform changes, emerging trends, and evolving social media best practices.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients on all social media-related matters.
- Prepare and present social media performance reports, strategic recommendations, and campaign insights to clients.
- Educate and coach clients on social media best practices, platform updates, and content opportunities.
- Lead recurring client calls to review performance, discuss recommendations, and align on content strategy and business goals.
- Build strong client relationships through proactive communication and consultative support.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support customer retention, product adoption, and service excellence.
- Assist with customer escalations and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Contribute ideas to improve workflows, reporting, content processes, and team efficiencies.
- Support departmental initiatives and additional responsibilities as needed.
Basic Qualifications
- One or more years of experience in social media, digital marketing, communications, or customer-facing account management roles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft professional and engaging social media content.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify patterns and develop data-driven strategies.
- A track record of commitment to prior employers.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Media, Communications or related discipline from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person University or College.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Experience managing social media accounts on behalf of multiple clients or brands.
- Proficiency in Canva and social media scheduling platforms.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and internal teams.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Familiarity with social media analytics and performance reporting.
- Evidence of strong academic performance in college.

Pay
Base Compensation: $60,000.00 - $64,000.00 Annually
