About the role
Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability in New York City. Through mentorship, academic enrichment, literacy development, creative expression, and housing initiatives, MAP creates safe, consistent, and empowering spaces where young people can thrive.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a social media strategy aligned with MAP’s mission and campaigns.
- Plan, schedule, and publish content across all MAP platforms.
- Create compelling posts highlighting programs, youth stories, and initiatives such as Threads of Voices and The Bells I Hear.
- Collaborate with communications, design, and program teams to align messaging and visuals.
- Engage with followers and partner organizations to foster authentic community relationships.
- Track analytics, audience engagement, and platform performance to inform strategy.
- Support video and visual content for MAP’s YouTube and multimedia storytelling.
- Check and respond to emails daily, ensuring all responses are completed within 48 hours.
- Take responsibility for performance improvement by setting growth goals and optimizing digital engagement efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Media, or a related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience managing social media for an organization, brand, or campaign.
- Strong understanding of social media tools (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube Studio, Meta Business Suite, Canva, or Hootsuite).
- Excellent writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills.
- Familiarity with digital marketing, analytics, and community engagement strategies.
- Collaborative, reliable, and passionate about creative communication and social impact.
Qualifications
- Minimum 6-month commitment preferred.
- Remote-first, with opportunities for collaboration and event coverage in New York City.

Unpaid volunteer position.
