About the role
Harvard in Tech is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Social Media Manager to join our marketing team. This volunteer position plays a vital role in maintaining our digital presence, engaging our professional community, and supporting the organization's mission of driving innovation and connection across Harvard's global tech network.
Schedule
This is a volunteer role requiring approximately 5-10 hours per week, with flexibility in hours based on your availability.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a cohesive social media strategy to elevate Harvard in Tech's digital presence
- Create, curate, and schedule high-quality content across platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter
- Manage and grow our online community through engaging posts, thoughtful responses, and ongoing interaction
- Track and analyze performance metrics to report on content reach, engagement, and impact
- Collaborate with the internal marketing and events teams to align content with organizational goals
- Assist in managing branded assets and maintaining consistency across channels
- Help manage and facilitate Harvard in Tech's official WhatsApp group
- Ensure adherence to group guidelines and foster meaningful discussion among members
- Share relevant updates, announcements, and event information to drive member engagement
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in social media management or content creation
- Strong knowledge of LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Creative mindset with the ability to generate engaging content ideas
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects with attention to detail
- Comfortable working independently in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Skills
- Experience with video editing or Canva/graphic design tools (preferred)
- Familiarity with social media analytics and reporting tools (preferred)
- Interest in innovation, technology, or the Harvard alumni community (preferred)
- Experience with content marketing, SEO, or email marketing tools (bonus)
