SOAR Engineer, Senior
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Security Orchestration and Automated Response (SOAR) engineer to manage system infrastructure and applications. As a SOAR engineer, you will use your technical skills to drive mission-forward change, focusing on security operations, threat detection, and security engineering. You will contribute to developing Threat Defense Solutions with an emphasis on detection and automation, while supporting the sustainment and development of critical naval platforms.
Responsibilities
- Build security automation capabilities based on analyst requirements.
- Develop playbooks using SOAR platforms such as Tines, Palo Alto XSOAR, Splunk Phantom, or Swimlane.
- Program using Python for automation and integration tasks.
- Utilize containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, or Podman.
- Integrate solutions via APIs and create custom apps or integrations.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience building security automation capabilities.
- Experience with playbook development using SOAR platforms (e.g., Tines, Palo Alto XSOAR, Splunk Phantom, or Swimlane).
- Experience with Python programming.
- Experience with containerization technology (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, or Podman).
- Experience integrating solutions via APIs and creating custom apps or integrations.
- Secret clearance (required).
- HS diploma or GED.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Linux administration.
- Experience with threat intelligence solutions (e.g., ThreatQ, OpenCTI, or Analyst1).
- Experience leveraging version control systems such as Git.
- Experience with log management platforms (e.g., Elastic Stack or Splunk).
- Experience supporting Defensive Cyber Operations.
- Experience integrating with AI systems.
- Experience in the DoD, Intelligence Community, or other regulated environments.
- Knowledge of AI gateway security.
- Knowledge of HTML, JS, and CSS.
- Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles.

Pay
The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). Salary is determined by factors including location, education, skills, competencies, experience, and contract-specific requirements.
Schedule
This role may be remote, hybrid, or onsite:
- Remote: Primarily virtual, with occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility.
- Hybrid: Frequent work from a Booz Allen facility, with potential visits to customer sites as needed.
- Onsite: Work primarily performed at a Booz Allen office or customer facility, with direct collaboration required.
Employees working virtually are generally expected to have their cameras on during meetings to support engagement and communication.
