About the role

In this position, you will provide leadership and direction to school-based programs by leading planning and program development related to implementation of USDA administrative reviews in the areas of resource management and procurement, in accordance with policies, rules, and regulations set forth by the Minnesota Department of Education, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and Federal and State laws.

Major areas of responsibility include development and execution of USDA School Nutrition Program Resource Management and Procurement Reviews as required by USDA; ensuring compliance with policy, rules, and regulations; and implementing best practices regarding financial management of the nonprofit school foodservice account. You will provide leadership in the development and delivery of administrative reviews, workshops/trainings, and information materials to external stakeholders. You will also provide directions and training for internal staff regarding School Nutrition Program finance and procurement information, policy updates, and administrative reviews.

This position is eligible for hybrid telework. Employees living within 50 miles of the office location will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. Employees may reside outside the state of Minnesota if they live in a state bordering Minnesota and are within 50 miles of the primary work location. Existing employees who were approved to telework from a bordering state and more than 50 miles from their work location before June 1, 2025, may retain this arrangement unless they move farther away.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and program development for USDA administrative reviews in resource management and procurement.
• Ensure compliance with policies, rules, and regulations from MDE, USDA, and Federal/State laws.
• Develop and execute USDA School Nutrition Program Resource Management and Procurement Reviews.
• Implement best practices for financial management of nonprofit school foodservice accounts.
• Provide leadership in developing and delivering administrative reviews, workshops, trainings, and informational materials to external stakeholders.
• Train and direct internal staff on School Nutrition Program finance, procurement, policy updates, and administrative reviews.

Requirements

• Three (3) years of professional experience in financial management, business administration, nonprofit management, or public administration of child or adult nutrition programs.
• A bachelor's degree and two (2) years of professional experience in financial management, business administration, nonprofit management, or public administration of child or adult nutrition programs.

Preferred Qualifications

• School district central office or state agency USDA School Nutrition Program experience.
• Experience working with UFARS in a Minnesota school district, charter school, or state agency.
• Experience analyzing school finance data, audit findings, or financial statements using UFARS standards.
• Proficiency in governmental or fund accounting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including managing large datasets, performing reconciliations, and identifying trends or discrepancies for monitoring and compliance.
• Experience managing projects and meeting deadlines.
• Experience presenting to large groups.

Pay

$32.40 - $47.76 / hourly; $67,651 - $99,722 / annually
