Snowmaker | Part Time Seasonal

About the role

Create massive amounts of snow while utilizing New Hampshire’s most powerful snowmaking system. Work with a team of driven individuals all focused on producing high-quality snow across three mountain peaks. As a Loon snowmaker, you will routinely operate industry-leading snowmaking equipment and maintain waterlines, hydrants, and high-pressure pumps throughout the resort. This entry-level position requires a safety-conscious individual who loves the outdoors and can hike and work in extreme weather conditions. As part of a customer-focused organization, every employee plays a role in attracting and retaining guests.

Responsibilities

• Set up and monitor snow guns, ensuring proper air/water combination and quality snow production.
• Produce quality snow across all three mountain peaks.
• Inspect guns, hoses, hydrants, and other equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Adjust water and/or air flow to snow guns and change nozzles as needed to maintain efficiency.
• Conduct regular maintenance checks on equipment, including water pipes, fluid levels, temperature controls, and energy consumption.
• Document and report mechanical or safety issues; complete maintenance logs and checklists.
• Perform light maintenance or repairs on equipment.
• Work safely near heavy equipment, high voltage, and high water pressures.
• Perform other duties as assigned while waiting for optimum snowmaking weather.
• Collaborate with and assist other departments such as Grooming, Ski Patrol, and Lift Operations.
• Test snow quality and report findings and conditions to the supervisor.
• Drive snowmobiles, trucks, and ATVs as necessary.

• Report safety-related accidents and incidents immediately to the supervisor.
• Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.
• Operate equipment safely to prevent injury to yourself or others.
• Drive in accordance with the law and Loon Mountain Resort policies if required.
• Be willing to ride as a passenger as needed.

Qualifications

• No prior experience or training required.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in a professional manner.
• Basic math skills required.
• Ability to solve practical problems and apply common-sense understanding.
• Resort certification on related equipment may be obtained as needed.

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
