Syracuse is a medium-sized city in the geographic center of New York State, approximately 250 miles northwest of New York City. Central New York provides seasonal attractions such as water skiing, snow skiing, hiking in the Adirondacks, touring historic sites, visiting Finger Lakes wineries, and biking along the Erie Canal.
Responsibilities
- Take between 300-1,200 customer orders daily and serve them.
- Use a POS terminal to add the cost of food, collect money, and make change.
- Balance and reconcile cash to cash register tapes.
- May be required to take weekly inventory of products.
- Prepare a variety of simple foods including French fries, hamburgers, hot dogs, soups, sandwiches, etc.
- Prepare and dispense coffee, tea, and other beverages.
- Wash dishes, cooking utensils, counter space, and maintain cleanliness.
- Observe safety and health regulations and maintain high standards of sanitation.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
- Ability to count cash, make change, and communicate well with the public.
- At least 3 months of food service experience.
Physical Requirements
- Standing 85% – 100% of the shift.
- Frequent bending at the waist; able to bend below the knee.
- Frequent stooping and/or crouching.
- Frequent walking back and forth throughout the counter area, stock room, and food service areas.
- Frequent twisting and bending of head, neck, and torso.
- Full range of arm movement (extension, twisting, bending of arm and shoulder, reaching overhead, stirring, mixing, wiping, etc.).
- Wrist and finger dexterity (ability to use tongs, scissors, pen, fine motor skills, press buttons for data entry on computer, calculator, electronic K5, and other beverage machines).
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs from the floor to waist height.
- Able to lift up to 30 lbs overhead.
- Able to push and pull up to 250 lbs.
Tools/Equipment
- Operate a variety of equipment, including a computerized POS terminal, food slicer, grill, deep fryer, convection oven, steamer, dishwasher, etc.
