SMTA Process Engineer
About the role
Leidos’ Defense Systems Electronics Manufacturing Facility is seeking a SMTA Process Engineer to join their team. This position is located in Huntsville, AL and offers the opportunity to create unique solutions for complex problems.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, document, and execute manufacturing processes and procedures for electronic products.
- Support production of printed circuit board assemblies through various processes including SMT, Through Hole Selective Solder, Press fit, Conformal Coating, and other PCBA manufacturing processes.
- Work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop hardware and utilize the latest automated technology in assembly and test equipment.
- Create machine programs and oversee the execution of manufacturing activities.
- Work closely with the operations team to ensure all assembly details are met and prepare the assembly for delivery to customers.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team, including engineering, operations, and quality teams, to develop processes that validate customer quality requirements.
- Work closely with production control to meet desired delivery schedules.
Basic Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree and 4-8 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 2-6 years of relevant work experience.
- In lieu of a degree, a HS Diploma with 10 years of experience may be considered.
- Experience with SMT, PTH, Selective soldering, Conformal Coating processes.
- Experience with Costpoint Material Planning software and/or Agile/Windchill product lifecycle management software.
- Experience in various quality roles.
- Experience in using Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
- Basic computer skills associated with assembly tasks.
- Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL.
- US Citizen with a Final Secret Clearance or eligible to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 5 years of manufacturing experience on programs building electronic hardware to government specifications (or similar).
- Experience in ASM pick and place, DEK screen printers, BTU ovens, PVA coating machine, Pillarhouse or JUKI selective solder.
- Experience with software maintaining bills of materials and engineering design data.
- Experience with electronics used on launch vehicles, targets, or missile components, and with production of cable harnesses, electronics, and electromechanical assemblies.
- Experience in various quality roles.
- Experience in using Manufacturing execution systems (MES).
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $73,450.00 - $132,775.00. Additional factors such as responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law, are considered in extending offers.
