About the role

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an SMT Process Engineer located in Austin, TX. Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, the SMT Process Engineer is responsible for process-engineering capabilities focused on cost, quality, and delivery improvements to support a manufacturing organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize SMT processes including printing, placement, reflow, AOI/SPI.
• Troubleshoot defects and lead root cause and corrective action activities.
• Customer-facing experience and technician training on SMT processes.
• Support NPI builds, DFM reviews, and process validation.
• Maintain process documentation and establish process controls (SPC, DOE).
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to ensure stable line performance.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean/6σ tools.
• Process test runs and prepare records (breakdown events, scrap, etc.), charts, and graphs of results for presentation to engineering to identify yield problems or test new products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4–6 years SMT process engineering experience.
• Knowledge of SMT equipment and IPC standards (IPC A 610, J STD 001).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with equipment such as ASM, DEK/MPM, BTU/Heller, Koh Young, Nordson.
• Lean Six Sigma or IPC certification preferred.
