About the role
A highly skilled Process Engineer to support and optimize SMT manufacturing operations within a fast-paced PCB/PCBA environment.
Responsibilities
- Own and optimize SMT manufacturing processes, including placement, reflow, and inspection
- Develop and refine reflow profiles to ensure product quality and process stability
- Troubleshoot process, equipment, and quality issues in real time on the production floor
- Drive line optimization efforts to improve throughput, efficiency, and first-pass yield
- Analyze defects and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Lead and execute continuous improvement initiatives across SMT operations
- Support process automation and modernization efforts to enhance scalability
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to solve complex manufacturing challenges
Requirements
- 5–10+ years of SMT process engineering experience within PCB/PCBA manufacturing
- Strong expertise in SMT placement equipment and processes, reflow soldering & thermal profiling, troubleshooting SMT line issues and defects
- Proven experience with line optimization and process improvements, yield improvement initiatives, manufacturing data analysis and root cause problem solving
- Hands-on, floor-based mindset with the ability to drive solutions in real time
- Experience supporting automation and production scaling efforts
- ITAR eligibility required; experience working in an ITAR-regulated environment is a strong plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in high-mix, low-to-medium volume environments
- Exposure to AOI/X-ray inspection systems
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple teams
