SMT Operator

About the role

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a 3rd shift SMT Operator located in Walker, MI. Reporting to the Production Manager, the 3rd Shift SMT Operator (Sun–Thurs 11 pm–7 am) role involves being responsible for the set-up of SMT components.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and operate automated SMT assembly equipment including Screen Printer, Glue Dispensing Machine, Pick and Place Machine, and Reflow Oven.
• Adjust speed, temperature, and other settings to accommodate varying types and sizes of products.
• Properly clean boards.
• Perform basic soldering and rework of SMT components; successfully complete solder training course (Flex provided).
• Pick components and prepare kits for manufacturing.
• Perform visual inspections of SMT assemblies.
• Maintain accurate job tracking records.
• Interpret IPC-A-610 standards for acceptability and customer specifications.
• Use hand tools, screwdrivers, pliers, cutters, etc.
• Maintain a neat appearance and work area.
• Be accountable for quality, quantity, and inspection of work performed.
• Practice safe work habits and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
• Train co-workers and assist when problems arise.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Familiarity with Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) electronic components and SMT assembly process.
