Pharmacy Technician (licensed with MS Board of Pharmacy: PTCB/Ex CPT Board Certified.)

About the role

Under general supervision of the Director of Pharmacy and direct supervision of the Pharmacy Operations Coordinator and daily supervision by Staff Pharmacists, uses the pharmaceutical services process to safely provide medication distribution. Performs a variety of functions, which involve demonstration of proficient clerical skills, accurate information management/data entry, obtaining supplies, and performing technical support functions. The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical services to patients including the preparation of parenteral admixtures, packaging, distributing, and charging medications. As determined by the Director of Pharmacy, the pharmacy technician will be assigned up to 80 hours per pay period and will rotate between day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Uses the pharmaceutical services process to safely provide medication distribution.
  • Demonstrates proficient clerical skills.
  • Accurately manages information/data entry.
  • Obtains supplies as needed.
  • Performs technical support functions.
  • Assists pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical services to patients, including the preparation of parenteral admixtures, packaging, distributing, and charging medications.
  • Rotates between day, evening, and weekend shifts as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.

Requirements

  • Licensed with MS Board of Pharmacy: PTCB/Ex CPT Board Certified.
  • Proficient in clerical skills.
  • Able to manage information/data entry accurately.
  • Ability to obtain supplies as needed.
  • Technical support skills.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical services processes.
  • Ability to assist pharmacists in patient care.
  • Flexibility to work day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a pharmacy technician program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Pharmacy Education (CAPTE).
  • Current certification as a Pharmacy Technician (PTC).
  • Current certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPT).
