Smoking Aide

Heartwood Extended Health Care in Tacoma, WA is seeking a Smoking Aide to assist in a safe smoking protocol, ensuring residents can smoke in the designated area and securing smoking materials and safety equipment after designated smoking times.

Responsibilities

• Monitor resident’s capacity and notify licensed staff to adjust plans as needed.
• Assist clients in developing personalized plans for quitting smoking.
• Provide education and resources to clients on the dangers of smoking and the benefits of quitting.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to clients.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client progress and treatment plans.
• Assist residents in placing aprons on and monitor smoking activity.
• Take residents to/from rooms after the session.
• Clean the smoking section/area after each session.
• Report any allegations of abuse and neglect to the direct supervisor.
• Perform any duties assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must be able to read written directions and comprehend verbal instructions.
• Working knowledge of office machines (copier, fax, phone systems, etc.).
• Good organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and other facility staff.
• Special interest in, and a positive attitude about, working with long-term care residents and the elderly.
• Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
• The responsibilities of this position involve significant physical activities including standing, lifting (up to 30 pounds unassisted), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting.

Schedule

• Full-Time: 1 shift Wednesday, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• PRN (as needed)
