About the role
The Production Front Line Supervisor plans, schedules, and directly supervises the work of hourly personnel assigned to their work crew. They are responsible for achieving established goals for production quantities, product quality, personnel safety, procedural adherence, and security protocol adherence within their assigned area of responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Achieving established goals for production quantities, product quality, personnel safety, procedural adherence, and security protocol adherence within their assigned area of responsibility.
- Sets performance expectations and monitors productivity of employees assigned to their work area.
- Maintains the training and qualifications of assigned workers and matches tasks with employee skills, experience, and training qualifications.
- Instructs employees in safety controls, equipment, processes, and special fabrication methods and techniques.
- Ensures employees have the knowledge, experience, skills, and are trained and qualified to perform assigned functions.
- Ensures that work assignments are in accordance with union contracts and craft jurisdictions.
- Maintains safe work conditions, good housekeeping, and organization of workplace tools and materials.
- Proactively prevents injuries, contaminations, or other hazardous exposures to the workforce.
- Obtains work start authorization for daily operations to ensure compliance requirements are met.
- Executes work within required cost and schedule agreements.
- Conducts crew briefs and pre-job briefs, monitors timekeeping and accountable absences, maintains appropriate records, and documents activities and events.
- Handles personnel matters associated with the work group including administration of the bargaining unit contract.
- Interviews, hires, or makes hiring recommendations; evaluates performance, coaches, counsels, rewards, and disciplines employees, as appropriate; handles employee complaints and personnel problems.
Accountabilities
- To the Production Support Manager for the Production division deliverables and employee safety.
- To their assigned crews for training, coordination, involvement, issue resolution, and communication, including resolution of personnel and/or equipment issues.
Authorities
- Authorized to manage the Production craft workers to support mission deliverables.
- Authorized to resolve cost, schedule, or resource conflicts regarding mission deliverables within their span of control.
- Authorized to represent the Production Division in interactions with Labor Relations personnel.
- Authorized to represent the workers in development of procedures and operating protocols that directly affect the work conditions and job performance.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
- Thirteen or more years of relevant education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Three years’ relevant job experience in a machining/fabrication/welding operations in a manufacturing disciplined facility production environment is required.
- Working knowledge of machining, metal fabrication and/or welding manufacturing.
