About the role
Huntington Ingalls Industries, Mission Technologies Division (HII-MT) is seeking a qualified candidate for Systems Engineer, Subject Matter Expert. The Systems Engineer performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and sustainability. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical and engineering principles.
Responsibilities

- Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical and engineering principles.
- Performs functional analysis, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate requirements into hardware and software specifications.
- Participates in the System Engineering life cycle, including requirements development, architecture development, system analyses (reliability, maintainability, etc.), integration and test planning, and system verification.
- Identifies and communicates technical risks and mitigations to stakeholders.
- Supports technical mentorship connects and technical publications.
- Plans, implements, and reports on Systems Engineering activities.
- Supports technical & functional leadership through the identification of risk and the management of engineers, technicians, and functional team leads.
Requirements
- 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.
- Significant experience with Electronica Warfare (EW) technologies, Radar design, and / or Signals analysis.
- Outstanding ability to proactively communicate via telephone and email with stakeholders in remote locations.
- Extensive experience working with technical experts to define requirements in order to advance capability development.
- Successful demonstration of technical and programmatic risk identification and mitigation.
- Proven demonstration of the ability to identify the sufficient level of detail needed to make significant program decisions and quantify and communicate that rationale to stakeholders.
- Tireless focus on the mission and making capabilities development a reality.
- Strong operations, acquisition, and test background: understanding operations vernacular, acquisition process, and test environment and controls to communicate across communities.
- Innovative and strategic mindset to identify future capabilities and requirements that can/should be integrated into near-term solutions.
- A solid leadership track record of leading technical teams of skilled engineers while working competing resource demands.
- Experience with Radar Signal Processing Techniques, System Integration, and Test.
- Advanced understanding with analysis tools/programs and their relation to overall capability development efforts.
- Hands-on design, test, integration, and verification support across lab facilities requiring skills in algorithms, software, hardware, and networking.
- Support technical mentorship connects.
- Support technical publications.

Qualifications
- CLEARANCE: Secret clearance minimum to start
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with advanced security checks
Physical Requirements
Office, or industrial, environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.

$135,954.00 - $169,810.00
