About the role

The Registered Nurse plans and provides professional nursing care to patients from admission through discharge. In this role, you will coordinate care across disciplines, collaborate with physicians, consult with patients and families, and assess, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans. As a Medical Surgical RN, you will also provide leadership and supervision to Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) and Support Assistants while helping deliver outstanding patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Care for patients with a wide variety of medical and surgical diagnoses, including congestive heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, pneumonia, diabetes, COPD, abdominal surgeries, total joint replacements, orthopedic patients, hospice care, skilled rehabilitation, and infusion therapy.
  • Coordinate care across disciplines, collaborate with physicians, consult with patients and families, and assess, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) and Support Assistants.
  • Help deliver outstanding patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Iowa.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Experience in a Medical Surgical setting preferred.

  • Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
