About the role
As a Service Technician, you will become a trusted partner to our customers as you service, repair, recondition, and assemble customer and dealership equipment, both new and used. You will maintain and operate shop equipment and tools, performing quality work as quickly and profitably as possible.
Responsibilities
- Accept repair orders as assigned by the Service Manager, Assistant Service Manager, Service Writer, or assigned person.
- Diagnose problems and determine what repairs are needed.
- Coordinate with Service office staff to communicate necessary repairs to customers and obtain approvals.
- Repair, service, recondition, or assemble equipment as approved by the customer or Service Manager.
- Obtain necessary parts, working cooperatively with Parts Department staff.
- Notify Service Manager when parts orders need to be expedited.
- Complete service inspections on equipment, making recommendations on repairs needed.
- Work to control come-backs, giving them special attention to prevent recurrence.
- Promote marketing programs to customers to drive sales.
- Communicate with customers in a positive, professional manner, demonstrating patience in explaining repairs.
- Thank customers for their business.
- Notify Service Manager of safety issues and/or accidents immediately.
- Accurately document time and work performed on provided forms in a legible and complete manner.
- Conduct work in a safe manner, wearing safety glasses and steel-toed shoes, and following other company safety guidelines.
- Attend meetings, training sessions, and other company events, participating in a positive, professional manner.
- Stay up-to-date on technical changes, product developments, manufacturer releases, etc.
- Attend training as required.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and safe work area and the shop in general.
- Present a positive, professional image in conduct and dress at all times.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Three plus years of previous related experience preferred.
- Associate’s Degree in small engines, outdoor motorsports, and/or other equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of lawn and garden equipment preferred.
- Must have own tools.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and insurable driving history.
Pay
Starting wage range is typically $23–35/hr and varies by experience level.
Schedule
Hours for this job are Monday through Friday from 7:30 am until 5 pm, with a mostly voluntary Saturday shift from 7:30 am until noon.
