Small Engine Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Repairs gasoline and diesel engines used to power lawnmowers, garden tractors, weed whackers, chainsaws, blowers, chippers, edgers, snow removal equipment and similar tools/equipment.
• Uses hand tools, locates causes of trouble, dismantles engines, and inspects/examines parts for defects.
• Replaces or repairs parts, such as rings and bearings.
• Cleans and adjusts carburetors and magnetos, starts repaired engines and listens to sounds to test performance.
• Where required, occasionally performs maintenance welder job duties.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum one year related work experience, five years preferred.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, and to respond to questions from vendors, customers and management.
• Comply with PRIDE’s safety program and adhere to proper safety practices.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver's License (may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements).
• Physical requirements: maneuvering in and around equipment; bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, crawling; pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 35 pounds; may be required to climb ladders and/or step stools.
• Work environment: performed at a customer’s location in office, shop, warehouse, or outdoor environment; may require driving to and from worksite locations; equipment can be located in crawl spaces, rooftops, and outside facility; employees may be exposed to hazardous and/or toxic substances, electrical shock, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt; Approval Date: March 2017; Salary Grade: Federal Wage Determination or Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Pay

$27.06 per hour (Onsite)
