Key Responsibilities
- Diagnostics & Repair: Rapidly troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical failures in 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines.
- Preventative Maintenance: Execute routine service intervals (oil changes, filters, belt tensioning, and blade sharpening) while rigorously inspecting safety discharge shields and kill switches.
- Fleet Oversight: Maintain digital or physical service logs for all assets to track lifetime maintenance costs and schedules.
- Inventory & Parts Management: Source and pick up parts from local vendors; manage shop inventory levels to ensure "high-wear" items are always in stock.
- Mobile Support: Perform emergency field repairs to keep crews operational and minimize mid-day travel back to the shop.
- Facility Stewardship: Maintain a clean, organized, and OSA-compliant shop environment and equipment yard.
- Operational Support: Assist with seasonal demands, such as preparing and maintaining snow removal equipment or participating in emergency weather response.
Technical Scope
- Handhelds: Blowers, line trimmers, and chainsaws (Stihl, Echo, etc.).
- Mowers: Zero-turns, stand-ons, and walk-behinds (Exmark, Scag, Wright).
- Heavy Machinery: Compact tractors and skid steers (Kubota, Bobcat, John Deere).
Required Skills
- Must have a high school diploma or GED with 2 years' experience in related field.
- Must have a valid NC Driver’s license and maintain a good driving record (CDL preferred).
- Must submit to a reference and criminal background check.
- Must have good communication skills and the ability to motivate others.
- Must comply with Bland Landscaping Company, Inc. policies and procedures.
- Must practice safety with chemicals and all equipment.
- Must wear company – provided uniforms and use personal protective equipment as needed.
- Must be able to pass a Criminal Background check.
Required Experience
- Experience: 2+ years of professional small engine or diesel mechanic experience.
- Technical Skill: Proficiency in carburetor adjustment, ignition systems, and basic hydraulics.
- Licensing: Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record (required for parts runs).
- Physical: Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in varying weather conditions.
- Tools: Possession of basic hand tools and diagnostic equipment preferred.
