Small Animal Patient Care Intermediate And General Ward Technician (ANML HEALTH TCHN 3 VMTH)

Responsibilities

• Provide paraveterinary technical support to the Small Animal Clinic Veterinarians.
• Treatment of patients, including those with life-threatening illness or injury.
• Administer medications and collect blood.
• Independently monitor and reassess emergent, critically ill patients.
• Support students in their training.
• Assist clinicians with their tasks.
• Maintain the facility.

Qualifications

• Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) or obtain within 3 months of date of hire.
• No minimum education required.
• Experience working in a Small Animal Hospital as a veterinary technician.
• Experience administering medications.
• Experience collecting blood.
• Ability to independently provide intense moment to moment monitoring and reassessment of emergent, critically ill patients.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license.
• Experience catheterizing blood vessels and urinary track.
• Experience in aseptic nursing and sterile techniques.
• Experience in emergency critical care medicine.
