Slope Stability Technician
About the role
Under close supervision, assists with routine small and medium-sized Engineering projects including layout and design, specification development and preparation, new product evaluation, and data collection to support operations or the Engineering unit at assigned site.
Responsibilities
- Assembles data and assists with problem-solving requiring basic theories and Engineering fundamentals
- Utilizes computer programs to solve Engineering problems
- Aids in layout and design of routine small and medium-sized Engineering projects
- Aids in specification development or preparation
- Aids in technical evaluation of equipment and material
- Aids in maintaining accurate and current project documentation
- May perform as a member of a survey or GPS mapping crew
- Performs other duties as required
Requirements
- One (1) year of experience in an Engineering or Technical area relevant to the assignment
- Knowledge of specialized equipment, methods and techniques appropriate to assignment, including GIS/GPS mapping techniques
- Skills in safely using, maintaining and repairing specialized equipment to complete assigned projects
- Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Able to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- One (1) year of experience in the mining industry
- Experience with maintaining and repairing radars, GPS equipment, total stations, piezometers
- Aptitude for computers and/or electronics
Skills
Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
Benefits
The estimated pay range for this role is currently $20.50 - $28.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
